is Safe Jobs for Youth Month in California |
Every May is Safe Jobs for Youth Month in California, an annual public awareness campaign
to highlight the importance of preventing teen injuries on the job. As youth enter
the workplace this summer, help make sure they don’t become one of thousands
who are injured on the job every year. Visit www.youngworkers.org
to find out what teens and their employers, parents and teachers can do. You can also
download or order a free 2003 Safe Jobs for Youth Month Resource Kit, with
education and outreach materials for the classroom and for the community.
As part of Safe Jobs for Youth Month, the Department of Industrial Relations and other
partners are sponsoring “Let Children Be Children: Lewis Wickes Hine’s
Crusade Against Child Labor,” a photo exhibit and tour organized by the George
Eastman House, in San Francisco’s City Hall, May 7 - July 6. Visit dir.ca.gov
for more information. UCLA-LOSH is a member of the California
Partnership for Young Workers' Health and Safety, a statewide working group representing
government agencies, educators, parents, employers, job trainers, labor unions and
others which coordinates this annual public awareness campaign.
