Driving Directions

Community groups and concerned residents from the L.A. area will meet to discuss environmental issues that affect our health. There will be community presentations, an open microphone, and a chance to discuss research needs and issues with scientists, regulators, health officials, and legislators. Workshops will address environmental justice, children's health, air pollution, school environments, healthy homes, youth and worker concerns, public participation in environmental health decisions, and more...

Dr. Kenneth Olden, Director of the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS), who supports community-based research on environmental justice and on health disparities, will be a featured speaker - and will listen to your concerns.

SPEAK UP AND BE HEARD!

Talk openly with Dr. Kenneth Olden, local scientists, elected officials, government regulators and community members about:
  • your environmental health concerns
  • how you can get information about environmental health issues in your community
  • how you can participate in environmental health decisions
  • what research you think is needed on environmental health issues in your community
  • what environmental health scientists can do to help
Learn about community groups' success stories - and share your own!

INVITED PARTICIPANTS:
  • families living in communities with environmental health problems
  • political leaders
  • community and environmental leaders
  • scientists, physicians, nurses
  • concerned residents
  • public health and regulatory officials
