Sheila Somerville is the LOSH Fund Manager, responsible for developing, monitoring and analyzing LOSH's budgets currently totaling more $1.5 million. She provides administrative support, financial analysis, and budget operations assuring that UCLA business and financial policies and procedures are followed and that compliance with University audit requirements are met. Ms. Somerville has served as the financial manager for the NIEHS funded Hazardous Waste Project since its inception in 1987. She is also responsible for developing budgets for all other LOSH training programs and sales and service accounts, preparing monthly financial reports, meeting with program staff, and preparing end of contract fiscal close-outs.
Prior to joining LOSH, Ms. Somerville served 10 years as Secretary to the Department of Surgery in the LA County Department of Health Services and 2 years as financial manager, Department of Surgery at King-Drew Medical Center.
LOSH's longest-term employee, Ms. Somerville is often sought out as the Program's historian.
