James Abajian is the HAZWOPER Project Coordinator/Educator for LOSH.
Mr. Abajian retired as a Fire Captain from the County of Los Angeles Fire Department after 34 years of service. During his 16 years as a member of the Fire Department's Hazardous Materials Emergency Response Team he served 7 years as a HazMat Captain and 3 years as the Department's HazMat Coordinator. As HazMat Coordinator he was responsible for all training, equipment and compliance issues for over 200 HazMat personnel including overseeing and directing emergency incidents for the Fire Department's three HazMat Task Forces.
In 1991 Mr. Abajian earned his “Fire Officer” instructor certification from the California State Fire Marshal. He also possesses numerous other certifications in the HazMat/Security Threat fields from California Specialized Training Institute, Department of Justice, UCLA and the Department of Defense.
Mr. Abajian served as an instructor/consultant with UCLA–LOSH from 1991 thru 1995 and will continue to use his expertise in training workers in Hazardous Waste/Hazardous Materials as the Training Course Coordinator.
