Ingrid Zubieta

Ingrid Zubieta is the LOSH Industrial Hygienist (IH) primarily assigned to the HAZWOPER Project. She provides technical assistance to LOSH staff, consultant instructors, and members of the Western Region Universities Consortium in all aspects of program development assuring the relevance and technical accuracy of LOSH course content. She teaches IH principles, hazard identification, and control for LOSH projects, and co-develops curriculum and educates workers with challenging needs.

As a native of Colombia, Ms. Zubieta received a BS degree in Chemical Engineering from the Universidad de America in Bogotà, and holds a Master's Degree in Public Health – Environmental Health Sciences from the University of California, Berkeley. Before joining LOSH in December 2005, she was employed with the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (LBL) as a Research Associate. Ms. Zubieta participated in the Occupational Health Internship Program studying the risk factors of overhead drilling among workers in the building trades in 2004 and worked as an Industrial Hygiene intern for Chevron Texaco in the Bay Area in 2003. She joined the Maquiladora Health and Safety Support Network in 2008 when she participated in the Cananea Project, which aimed to assess, document, and report the working conditions of copper miners in Cananea, Mexico.
