Brenda Perez is LOSH's Spanish Resources Specialist. She works with program staff to research, develop, compile and translate materials that address hazards confronted by Spanish-speaking workers employed in the more informal and high-risk work settings not accessible through labor-management avenues. She then incorporates these educational materials into LOSH's Spanish-language Library, Alpha Resource files, and website. Additionally Ms. Perez assists, as requested, with educational activities such as the WOSHTEP 24-hour Specialist course, Workers Memorial Day, and the Young Worker Leadership Academy.

Ms. Perez joined LOSH as a student worker in summer 2007, where she primarily worked with WOSHTEP, helping to prepare training materials for courses, assisted with the 2008 YWLA Academy, and worked on the 2008 Workers Memorial Day event. She earned her Bachelor's Degree in Psychology and Political Science with a minor in Urban and Regional Studies from UCLA in June of 2008. Upon graduation, she participated in the Occupational Health Internship Program (OHIP), assigned to identify the health and safety hazards of carwash workers and taxicab drivers in the Los Angeles area.

Future plans are to earn dual Masters Degrees in Public Health and Urban Planning. She is interested in the effects of urbanism-particularly on employment and labor markets, housing and the function of policy and planning in determining the spatial organization and development of cities.
